FAQ
Saturday or Sunday?
Due to grim's popularity and 2500 runner limit, we now hold the event over two days so you can enter on either day - same course same time different day to suit you
How many runners enter the race?
Because the event takes place on beautiful countryside, car parking is our biggest limiting factor, therefore, we have a limit this year of 2,500 runners.
When should I enter?
As early as possible. The race will be a sell out.
How do I apply?
Enter online online by clicking here for saturday or here for sunday or by downloading an entry form on the right of this page
Age Limit?
Runners must be 17 or over. The course is much harder than a normal cross-country course so 17 seems to be a sensible age limit to us.
My friends have received their race numbers but I haven't got mine.
Race information and chips are sent out after November 1st so give it another few days if not too close to the event, then drop us a line – info@frsystems.co.uk. If close to the event, please contact us immediately. If you’ve entered online you would have received a confirmation of entry email from us so don’t panic, you are in the race
Lost number?
Contact us immediately - info@frsystems.co.uk.
Lost Chip?
Please contact us immediately - info@frsystems.co.uk. There will be a charge of £10 for a lost chip unfortunately as these are expensive and we just hire them for the day
Address?
Runners often say that they've changed address since entering or that they live in a huge block of flats and their post goes missing. Why not get your number sent to your workplace if that is more secure. If you change address after entering but before the info has been sent out on November 1st, please tell us otherwise the info and chip will go to the wrong address and you could be charged £10 if you can't get the chip back to us.
Ill or Injured?
You should not run if ill or injured for your own safety. You cannot give your number to someone else in your place. This is for insurance reasons.
Refunds and Deferrals
Like all events, entry fees are used to hire land, equipment etc. Therefore, we do not issue refunds after entry. Entries cannot be deferred to the following year.
How fit do you need to be?
Most people entering are not serious runners but then GRIM is not a walking race either. You should be fit enough to be able to run at least 5m on the road without stopping. That way, you will be able to walk/run GRIM without too much trouble.
What time should I arrive at the venue?
The race starts at 10:30am. You should get there at 9am. This will leave enough time to get parked up and allows you enough time to use the loos. You might even pick up a bargain the retail store on-site.
Parking
There is only 1 entry / exit in and out of the main car parking facility. Getting in to the venue could be a little slow and leaving certainly will be. It could take you up to 40mins to leave the site at peak time. We suggest chilling out – grab or bring some food with you and something hot to drink. Unless you're close to the front in the race, it's unlikely you'll beat the masses. We truly appreciate everyone's co-operation and understanding re parking and have never had any problems with irate competitors.
How many in a team?
Only teams of THREE are accepted in one of either three categories – Women Only, Men Only or Mixed (2 guys & 1 girl or 2 girls & 1 guy – up to you). If there are 4 of you, enter three as a team and 1 as an individual.
Can we run together?
You can run together or individually. A lot of teams are in it for the fun so run together to help each other along. If you're in it to win it, you might be better off running your own races.
I've received my confirmation email but not my race number
Numbers have the electronic timing device fitted. Experience has taught us that if we send them out before November 1st, too many people will loose them, therefore, information and numbers will be sent to you on November 1st.
Team Numbers
are sent to the Team Captain for distribution. Each individual runners name will be written on the back of each number.
Team Names
Can be anything – serious or funny. Please do not send in anything too obscene and remember, ‘Grim Reaper' is too obvious!
Results
They are recorded and posted on the site the same day. Individual prizes are awarded on the day.
Team Results
Results are worked out on a point's basis. If you are first across the line, you get 1 point. Finish 2nd & receive 2 points and so on. We add up the accumulated points score of each of the three-team members for each category and this gives us the results. These results are also posted on the web site the same day. They are subject to change - see below.
Errors
unfortunately there are sometimes errors in the results sometimes our fault sometimes yours, e.g. a runner might be wearing someone else's chip/number by mistake or there's been a human error inputting the data. If you feel that there is an error with your result, please contact us NO LATER than 5pm Tuesday 8th December. Results will be deemed final and we can then send out the TEAM PRIZES.
Public Transport?
Trains run to Aldershot station from Waterloo, however, it will take around 30mins to walk to the start. If you cannot share a lift with someone, you might want to organise a local taxi company to drop you at the start.

Footwear
Your shoes will get wet and muddy so best not wear a brand-new white pair! No Spikes - most of the paths are too stony for them and too dangerous for other competitors when crawling under netting! Shoes with a very good grip are ideal. You will also benefit from choosing the right pair of running shoes for your training.
